The Vow

Nothing melts my heart than when i see two souls being joined as one, happy and in love. i did not grow up in a home where my parents were married but that has not stopped me from believing in true love and soul mates. I believe in love.

I may be young to know little if nothing at all about marriage but its a beautiful affair. Marriage not only joins two people together, it joins two hearts, two souls and two families together. It ties them together and that bond is never to be broken. Everyone needs somebody who can share their happiness and sorrows of life.  Marriage is a lifetime commitment to be with your soul mate in all the ups and downs of life.

For many of us, theres a time in our lives where we'll have to make a promise that becomes a commitment, a vow and a contract. we'll make it in front of friends and family with God as the witness. These are wedding vows and shouldn't be taken lightly. this past weekend  I attended a wedding and when the couple said their vows, my heart started pumping faster than usual thinking of the contract that they're getting themselves into. Their vows to each other were sincere and graceful.

What startles me is when two people decide that they want to marry and spend the rest of their lives together and in the future realize that they cant stand the sight of each other because one of them gave in to the temptations of the world. When you break your vow, you tell the whole world that you're untrustworthy. Think about what your doing, about the promise that you're about to make before your Creator . If you have the slightest doubt about making that promise, then maybe you should reconsider because the consequences of breaking that vow will follow you for a lifetime.

Marriage is a beautiful monster, so I've heard. take your time and when you're ready, do what you have to do.  Remember that once you've entered into this contract, getting out of it is not so easy. Honour it with pride for all the days of your life because you're as good as your word.

This post is inspired by the newly weds Mr and Mrs Xulu. I wish them many years of happiness together.
